Thousand Silk Threads, Suzhou Opening Show

Our collective and Xiao Ke Dance Group have been invited by Italian curator Davide Quadrio to create a show in Suzhou, near Shanghai. The underlying theme of the show was the encounter, the influence and the mutual fascination between Chinese and European culture. Through the choreography of Xiao Ke and our visuals we tried to tell the story of how, from the legendary travels of Marco Polo, the contact between these two civilisations has been so incisive in terms of literature, art, architecture, fashion and how the fruits of that encounter in the distant past still reverberate in contemporary culture.
